The fat your great-grandparents cooked with. Pure, rendered beef tallow from 100% Grass-fed, USA-raised cattle. High smoke point. Clean flavor. Zero seed oils, zero preservatives, zero apologies. One ingredient: beef fat, the way it was before the 1950s convinced you that seed oil was food.

Why This Works

  • High smoke point (400F): Ideal for searing, frying, roasting, baking. Everything except deep-frying in seed oils.
  • Seed oil free: No oxidized linoleic acid. No industrial processing. Just rendered fat from 100% Grass-fed cattle.
  • Stable under heat: Doesn't oxidize like seed oils do. Fry in it once, strain it, use it again.
  • 100% Grass-fed nutrition: Fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K from animals that ate grass, not grain.

What You're Getting

  • 14 oz (397g) of premium rendered beef tallow in reusable glass jar
  • Rendered from pure suet (kidney fat), the highest quality tallow cut
  • 100% Grass-fed, grass-finished, USA-raised cattle from family farms
  • 400F smoke point. Superior to butter, coconut oil, and most oils.
  • Shelf-stable at room temperature. Lasts months without refrigeration.

How to Use

Use anywhere you'd use butter, ghee, or cooking oil. Scoop what you need: tablespoon for pan-sear, two for deep frying. Perfect for searing steaks, frying eggs, roasting vegetables, making pie crusts, seasoning cast iron, and ancestral cooking. Reusable. Strain after frying and use again. Stores at room temperature for months.

Why Cook with Tallow?

Before seed oils and industrial food, Americans cooked with animal fats. Tallow has a 400F smoke point, higher than butter, coconut oil, and most olive oils. Doesn't oxidize under heat like seed oils do. Flavor is clean and rich without being overpowering. Your cast iron benefits. Your body benefits. Ancestral cooking becomes normal again.

Product Details

Ingredients & Quality

100% rendered grass-fed beef tallow from USA-raised cattle on family farms in Missouri and the Midwest. Nothing else. No preservatives, no additives, no seed oils blended in.

Rendered from premium suet (kidney fat), the highest-quality fat on the animal. Naturally rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Why Tallow for Cooking?

400°F Smoke Point — Tallow handles high-heat cooking without breaking down or oxidizing. Sear steaks, fry eggs, roast vegetables, and deep fry without the health concerns of seed oils.

Stable Under Heat — Unlike polyunsaturated seed oils (canola, soybean, sunflower), tallow is primarily saturated and monounsaturated fat. It doesn't form harmful aldehydes or free radicals when heated.

The Original American Cooking Fat — Before the 1950s, tallow and lard were the standard cooking fats in American kitchens. McDonald's famously used beef tallow for their fries until 1990. We're bringing back what worked.

Rich in Fat-Soluble Vitamins — Grass-fed tallow from pasture-raised cattle naturally contains vitamins A, D, E, and K. Cooking with tallow adds nutritional value rather than empty calories.

How to Use

Searing & Frying: Heat tallow in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. It melts cleanly and coats the pan evenly. Perfect for steaks, burgers, eggs, and vegetables.

Roasting: Coat vegetables or meat with melted tallow before roasting. Produces superior browning and crispy texture compared to olive oil or butter.

Deep Frying: Tallow is the traditional deep-frying fat. Maintains stability through multiple uses. Produces clean, crispy results without the off-flavors of seed oils.

Baking: Substitute tallow 1:1 for butter or shortening in savory recipes. Produces flaky pie crusts and rich biscuits.

Storage: Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place. Tallow is shelf-stable and does not require refrigeration. Lasts 12+ months.

Our Sourcing

Our cooking tallow comes from cattle raised on family farms in Missouri and the greater Midwest. These animals spend their lives on pasture, eating grass as nature intended.

No feedlots. No grain finishing. No antibiotics or added hormones.

We work directly with farmers who practice rotational grazing and prioritize both animal welfare and soil health. Every purchase supports these families and the regenerative practices that make this quality possible.

FAQ

Does cooking tallow smell like beef?

Rendered tallow has a mild, neutral scent when solid. When heated for cooking, it has a subtle savory aroma that complements most dishes. It's far milder than bacon grease or lard.

How long does it last?

Properly rendered tallow is extremely shelf-stable. Store at room temperature in a sealed container for 12+ months. Refrigeration extends life further but isn't necessary.

Can I reuse tallow after frying?

Yes. Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth after cooling, then store in a clean container. Tallow can be reused multiple times for frying, which is one of its advantages over seed oils that degrade quickly.

Is this the same tallow used in your skincare?

Same source, same quality, same farms. The rendering process is optimized for culinary use rather than topical application, but the raw material is identical: premium suet from 100% grass-fed, USA-raised cattle.
